Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the H&S Assistant's role is to provide administrative support to the health, safety, and environment team on the Don Valley Crossing project. This is a contract position for the duration of the project (anticipated completion date of September, 2028) for Construction Demathieu & Bard's joint venture (referred to as Leaside Valley Builders) with EBC.

Work Conditions
The work must be performed in person at various project sites located within the East York region of Toronto for the completion of two multi-span bridges, slope stabilization, underpass rehabilitation and all other associated works (temporary roads, bridges, traffic control, etc.) You may also need to periodically visit to CDB's head office in Peterborough for events and training.

Responsibilities
• Monitoring and disseminating material to Health and Safety Coordinators on the project
• Administering the conformity of IT platform and training new users
• Creating, translating, and sending communications for the department
• Receiving and sending various OHS orders to the project team (displays, inspection logs, collections, hot permits, etc.)
• Participation in improving office ergonomics
• Participating in safety audits
• Updating training documentation
• Updating files in the prequalification platforms
• Updating corporate OHS documents
• Writing meeting reports
• Managing the OHS department email inbox
• Maintaining the prevention program register, and ensure it remains up to date
• Recording meeting minutes, as required
• Maintaining a record of employee training, including certificates and expiration dates
• Sourcing and scheduling training for personnel, as requested by the Health and Safety Manager
• Other duties as assigned

Requested skills

Qualifications required
Education/ certifications
• Post Secondary Education is Health and Safety or Business Administration, or similar
• Completed core courses for National Construction Safety Officer or Safety Administration certificate is an asset

Experience and Technical Knowledge
• Experience in Health and Safety support, preferably in the construction industry
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
• Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required.
