Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the Bus technician will be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, repairing and adjusting the various systems and components on commercial and school buses. Previous dealership or fleet experience considered an asset. Knowledge of Cummins, Allison, Ford Gas/Propane and EV systems considered very strong assets.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review ans asset work orders and discuss the work required with shop foreman ;
  • Preform pre-delievery inspectins (PDI) of new buses ;
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance services and advise future repairs needed
  • Inspect and test mechanical units, including engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit
  • Road test buses when necessary to identify concerns or to verify proper drivability of the unit
  • Diagnose and test systems and components using diagnostic software
  • Work within the established safety guidelines and procedures
  • Keep a safe and clen work bay as per OSHA and company standards
  • Complete reports to record problems and work performed
  • Conducts safety checks on all vehicules and equipment
  • Work with apprentices to ensure proper guidance and assistance
  • The successful candidate may be required to take an other responsabilities within their skill set as needed or at the request of their immediate supervisor.

Requested skills

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Truck & Coach technician  -  310T Licence is required
  • Valid "G" driver's licence and reliable transportation
  • Own tools required
  • Dealer/Fleet experience an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in diesel mechanics (preferred)
  • Independent, versatile and motivated worker
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work individually and as parts of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Customer service oriented
