The starting annual salary for this full-time School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach Grade 8 English, Social Studies, Careers & Physical Health Education with a partner in a pod, sharing 60 students. Each lesson will be taught twice. PE will be taught alongside the partner teacher.

*This opportunity is a temporary UFN contract, which is subject to change or cancel before June 27, 2025. In the event the teacher returns to work (work-hardening, part-time, full-time) before the end of the school year, the duration and/or FTE of this temporary assignment will be amended. The successful applicant must accept the reduced work week (amended to a part-time contract) but will have the option to remain in a temporary 1.0 FTE contract by working as a Priority TTOC on other days until June 27, 2025.

Education & Experience

Major/minor in English, History or related Social Science

Experience teaching English Language Arts, Social Studies, Careers courses at the Middle School Level

Teacher training at the Middle School level with major/minor in Kinesiology

Practicum work in Physical Health Education at the Middle School Level

Experience teaching Physical Health Education at the Middle School Level

Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification

Eligible for B.C. Certification

Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.

Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives

Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students

Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
