Job Summary & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be committed to working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to design an environment and programming conducive to engaging children and their families. They should have a breadth of knowledge and experience in the areas of social emotional learning, trauma informed practice, differentiated instruction, and?familiar with technology used to support students.
The successful candidate may be required to complete LSS Essentials, a series of 3 workshops facilitated by the LSS Department.
Part-time schedule to be determined.
The starting annual salary for this elementary School Teacher position ranges from $37,102.80 to $65,074.80, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
Education & Experience
Major/minor or diploma in Inclusive Education (aka Special Education)
Practicum and/or work experience in Inclusive Education at the Elementary level
Case management experience required
Training and experience with Level B Assessments (ie. KBIT2/KTEA III)
Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification
Eligible for B.C. Certification
Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
