Job Summary & Responsibilities
Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle School is in central Abbotsford. We have a student enrollment of 550; 12% of our students have designations for diverse needs and 13% of our students receive ELL support. We have a vibrant Indigenous program that supports our Indigenous students. Our school goal focused on building protective factors in our students through engaging learning opportunities, physical and mental wellness, sensory regulation, restorative justice, and literacy/numeracy development. The successful candidate will be committed to working collaboratively with Howe Middle teachers, support staff and administration. They should have a breadth of knowledge and experience in the areas of social-emotional learning (including self-regulation), trauma-focused practice, Universal Design for Learning, Inquiry based learning and differentiated instruction.
The starting annual salary for this Middle School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458 , with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
Education & Experience
- Degree/Diploma in Technical Education
- Experience teaching digital literacy and media arts at the Middle School level
- Eligible for B.C. Certification
- Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
