Who are we?

Over the past 19 years, Aberdeen Hall has become a top-level independent school that provides excellent academics and a strong character education to our diverse student population of 700 preschool to grade 12 children. Our Montessori-themed early learning program includes 47 students.

Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School has an opportunity for our Director of Preschool. (position profile can be found here). You will be responsible for creating a warm and supportive preschool community where everyone is valued and feels a strong sense of belonging. You’ll join our team in implementing an engaging early years curriculum and ensuring compliance with all regulations.

Our preschool programming runs with our school year from September through to late June. In addition there are an optional six weeks of out of session camps that run for a week in early January, a week in March and four weeks in June after school is out. In this role you will have the option to be an ECE counsellor at our out of session camps. If this sounds interesting to you please let us know in your application.

Aberdeen Hall provides

Competitive annual salary $64,000 - $74,000 inclusive of vacation pay, the BC government wage enhancement and out of session camps. Commensurate with education and years of teaching experience. (Working in the camps are optional, salary can be reduced and vacation time increased if this is the successful candidates preference)

8 weeks vacation (or if preferred 14 weeks of vacation and a lesser salary if not working in out of session camps)

Success Factors

Certification in Early Childhood Education (required)

Five or more years experience managing an early years centre (required)

Montessori Training or willing to obtain it

Experience in an Independent School (asset)

ECE Camp Counselor experience (asset)

The ability to foster a strong community through leadership or supervisory experience

Oversee and help create engaging daily activities

In depth knowledge and understanding of the Child Care Licensing Regulation

Computer Skills: Google Classroom, docs, sheets, slides and Gmail

Known to model the highest standards of professional practice and interactions with all stakeholders

Ability to understand the importance of emotional intelligence and empathy in building trust and contribute to a positive working atmosphere across the School community

Known to communicate, negotiate, collaborate and build partnerships effectively
