Corridor Technical Lead (Supporting the GO Expansion Program)

    • Reporting to the Corridor Delivery Lead, the Corridor Technical Lead will lead on engineering deliverables on one, or more, Rail Corridors on the GO Expansion Program, to ensure the best outcomes for the Engineering Deliverables that are to be produced
    • The corridor technical lead will need to consider the whole corridor at a program level, and with their expertise develop and implement a program-level deliverables
    • They will be responsible for liaising between various project teams and reviewing project designs to ensure they are fully coordinated (across various configuration states) and compliant with the remit. The disciplines involved include Civil/ Structural, Signalling, Telecoms, High Voltage and Low Voltage supply, SCADA, OCS, Protection and Controls, EMC, Earthing and Bonding, Human Factors and Security. They will be required to proactively engage with the Client project delivery teams (PDT) and other Client stakeholders, such as EA&M, Discipline specific Centre of Excellences, sponsors, and functional teams
    • Identifies and analyses technical and design hazards and risks.
    • Able to set up effective management/assurance systems and procedures
    • Able to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome
    • Positive & proactive approach to engaging with the various Project Delivery Teams (PDT’s)
    • Interacts with clients and other stakeholders to ensure that objectives are being met
    • Liaises with the Client PDTs from the various sectors, Stations, Early Works, Joint Corridor Early Works, USRC, Extensions, to ensure all works are aligned with the common goal for the Rail Corridor and over-arching GO Expansion Program
    • Ensure that appropriate behaviours and ‘best for program’ approaches are always adopted, leading by example in the pursuit of successful delivery of the Program
    • Undertake design reviews to ensure projects are complying with their scope, process, and deliverable requirements
    • Lead Integrated Design Review meetings between projects and interface discussions between PDT’s
    • Competent at reviewing Primavera P6 schedule’s and be able to undertake analysis of the design and construction activities within the baseline, to identify anomalies
    • Working closely with the Corridor Leads to ensure the consistent delivery of all discipline designs in accordance with standards, requirements and in respect of schedule, cost, safety, and quality
    • Oversee design risk management, issues resolution, problem solving activities
    • Be able to make proposals for innovative construction techniques, specific to future works been undertaken by PDTs
    • Develop understanding of schemes in sufficient detail to support meetings, deconflictions, interfaces etc
    • Create the environment for successful implementation of processes
    • Creating and delivering persuasive and engaging presentations to wide range of audiences in our industry
    • Be able to Network externally and provide value of this network to the wider business
    • Ability to contribute to the establishment of a behavioural charter and capability to drive the agreed behavioural values through MCS and the wider program team

    • Engage in the practice of professional engineering which:
      • Requires the application of engineering principles
      • Is an act of planning, designing, composing, evaluating, advising, reporting, directing or supervising, or managing any of these acts
      • Involves the safeguarding of life, health, property, economic interests, the public welfare or the environment
    • Ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines for the practice of professional Engineering in the Province of licensure including but not limited to professional responsibility, Engineer’s duty to report, use of the Professional Engineer’s seal, due diligence, report writing, giving opinions, communications, confidential information, data gathering, and site investigations
    • Responsible for a large engineering team (may consist of multi-firm and client resources) leveraging a diverse array of talents and delegation of responsibilities
    • Implement, manage, and execute appropriate means and methods to complete the established goals and tasks on projects and programs from inception through to completion
    • Direct the engineering services for the project or program and ensure the work is fully supported from an engineering standpoint in an integrated, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective manner
    • Organize the services activities per the mission and goals of the project or program including customer satisfaction, and engineering team member performance
    • Create, verify, and manage short and long-term service goals and success criteria for projects or programs in line with acceptable standards of workmanship
    • Develop a budget and delivery plan for the offered engineering services on a project or program in consultation with the project team and stakeholders
    • Outlining the human and material resources required to complete assigned contracts and projects successfully
    • Exercise authority in managing the work and controlling the delivery of the project portfolio per established plans
    • Define the success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project and program life cycle
    • Manage the interface between client, consultants, and all associated service providers at all levels of the engagement model
    • Execute changes and interventions to ensure service goals are achieved
    • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders (including senior management and sponsors) to make communication easy and transparent
    • Guide the team on the production of accurate and timely reporting of project or program status and performance throughout its life cycle
    • Identify and analyze risks and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans as needed
    • Review and ensure adherence to the operating and delivery plan scope, schedule, milestones, budgets, and KPIs on the project and address issues with corrective actions as appropriate
    • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations in scheduled project focus and functional meetings with various audiences including the project team, client executives, key stakeholders, and Comtech operations
    • Lead the negotiation of scope changes
    • Evaluate project effectiveness on the project or program and identify areas for improvement
    • Recommend and manage expectations for the project or program while delegating and managing deliverables with the engineering team
    • Build and maintain a positive, high-performing team culture with an openness to constructive challenge, continuous improvement, implementation of lessons learned, and an overall ‘right-first-time” mindset
