Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Employment Law Attorney to join our legal team. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of employment law compliance and risk management for our Canadian operations. The role is responsible for providing expert legal counsel on workplace policies, employee relations, labor regulations, and compliance matters, ensuring adherence to Canadian employment laws and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice on employment law matters, including hiring, termination, compensation, benefits, and workplace policies.

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian employment legislation, including the Canada Labour Code, provincial employment standards, human rights laws, and privacy regulations.

  • Draft, review, and update employment policies and internal procedures.

  • Advise on workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.

  • Work with our internal employee litigation group to directly handle or manage outside counsel in connection with employment-related disputes, negotiations, mediations, and litigation.

  • Monitor and interpret changes in employment laws and provide training and guidance to HR and management teams.

  • Support HR in handling accommodations, diversity and inclusion initiatives, workplace safety, and employee relations matters.

  • Collaborate with global legal and HR teams to align employment practices with corporate policies and international labor standards.

  • Provide pre-acquisition due diligence and post-merger integration advice, ensuring compliance with employment laws and smooth workforce transitions.
