Description
Under the supervision of the Corporate Secretary, Director of legal affairs and compliance, the incumbent plays an essential role within the organization by providing strategic legal advice and ensuring that the organization complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Working closely with various departments, the Lawyer contributes to informed decision-making and risk management in support of advancing organizational objectives and vision.

Responsabilities

  • Providing accurate and timely advice on various legal, compliance and governance matters;
  • Drafting, negotiating, revising and managing various contracts with various stakeholders and participating in the ongoing updating of the organization’s various contractual models, according to requirements and best practices;
  • Ensuring compliance with the organization's legislative and regulatory requirements, and implementing related organizational initiatives, particularly in the areas of access to information, privacy, official languages, accessibility, environmental law and legislative monitoring;
  • Acting as the organization’s delegate alongside the Director, in accordance with the applicable legislative framework, particularly regarding access to information, privacy, official languages and accessibility, and assuming all associated responsibilities and follow-ups;
  • Negotiating with external parties and acting diligently to prevent and resolve disputes;
  • Drafting, reviewing and processing applicable regarding the organization’s official documents, including relevant policies, directives and procedures, and ensuring their deployment and adoption throughout the organization;
  • Developing tools for internal clients and contributing to the legal services promotion, awareness and ongoing training initiatives;
  • Conducting legal analysis to identify precedents and assess legal risks associated with business decisions;
  • Contributing to the development of initiatives and activities related to the sound and efficient management of external providers of legal services as needed;
  • Contributing to the implementation of best practices and initiatives related to the organization's governance and ethics, and supporting the corporate secretariat in its functions, as required.
