THE ROLE: 

This is an engineering management position responsible for leading and managing a test engineering team. New ideas, methods, and technology knowledge are required to take AMD’s test processes to the next level for our GPU and APU/CPU businesses. You will be developing test processes to support both NPI and volume manufacturing.  Products supporting could include Gaming, Server, Datacenter, Workstation, Engineering Tools, and more.  Key team activities include ensuring overall test coverage, test platform development for a volume manufacturing, and managing test plans in a production environment. This is a hands-on role.  The scope of your responsibility will include continuous test coverage enhancements, test efficiency improvements, and yield improvements. Acts as liaison with internal engineering teams, internal customer teams, and our assembly partners. 

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate has proven experience managing a team through test coverage, manufacturing, and NPI. You are comfortable communicating with individual contributors, management, and executive level staff, as well as globally distributed teams.  As a manager you will influence important technical decisions that have a significant impact on final AMD product.   

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet those goals. 

  • Recommend changes to unit or sub-unit policies. 

  • Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives. 

  • Provides direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled support individual contributors (i.e. engineers, technicians). 

  • Provides direction to individual contributors according to established policies and management guidance. 

  • Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. 

  • Runs weekly 1:1 with individual contributors providing feedback and coaching. 

  • Sets clear team goals and responsibilities. 

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other departments. 

  • Other duties as necessary.  

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience in product test development and/or manufacturing test, preferably in GPU and APC/CPU products. 

  • Experience with developing tests, patterns/vectors, timing, and diagnostics on Automated Test Equipment. 

  • Experience in XP, AGILE, Scrum, or Kanban as Scrum Master or Product Owner. 

  • Strong knowledge of architecture and test methods for graphics (digital and analog), GPU computing, and APU/CPU processing. 

  • Excellent people management ability and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering and manufacturing teams. 

  • Knowledge of DFx principles and experience preparing DFT reviews/reports Test automation implementation and data collection. 

  • Ability to drive improvements throughout the entire ASIC and board test processes – SLT, ICT, FT, and OBA.  Be able to build strong relationships with extended test teams.  

  • Good experience with the PCBA manufacturing process. 

  • Solid experience in supporting test in manufacturing. 

  • Good experience in managing large-scale testing projects, coordinating with multiple teams and in leading meetings. 

  • Debug experience in hardware, software, device, and manufacturing domains. 

  • Experience with OOP and scripting languages 

  • Experience with firmware build process and revision control. 

  • Experience with logic analyzers, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other debug tools. 

  • Experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems. 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  •  B.S. or M.S. degree in CS or equivalent
