About Us
Aecon is a premier contractor with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) completing numerous long term maintenancecontracts to help support the future long term operation of the Darlington Nuclear Station.
Reporting to the Project Safety Manager, the EHS Advisor will be responsible to actively promote a health, safetyand environmental culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecons Health, Safetyand Environmental Manual.
What You'll Do Here
Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progressionby fostering a sense of belonging
Support project specific conventional safety and environmental management plans and proceduresincluding; inspections, audits, observation and coaching, Worker Trades Committee and JHSC
Train project staff on the requirements of conventional safety procedures; Hot Work, Working at Heights,Dropped Object Prevention, Confined Spaces, Working on or around Electrical Equipment, Ergonomics Track and report safety- related statistics, help manage Return to Work and review Modified duties cases atthe field level;
Additional detailed requirements as outlined in the Project Specific EHS and related programs
Complete in field observations and behavioral based observations Collect WBGT readings in the field and communicate potential High Hazards and suggest controls tosupervision and construction
Assist in communicating safety messaging in Safety Meetings as well as Safety Standups Support Human Performance program activities
Assist in development of Safe Work Plans, JSA, High Hazard Assessments, Critical Material Handling and Liftplans as well as provide feedback to supervisors on Pre Job Briefs and task assignment/assessment
Complete site Audits and provide feedback to EHS management on status of EHS management system
What You Bring To The Team
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Health and Safety within the construction industry Relevant Post Secondaryeducation or equivalent experience in the H&S field
A designation such as CHSO, CRSP, CRST, or Gold Seal is an asset but not a requirement
A Team Player that is adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment
Background in Training and/or Education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups is an asset
Be a champion of inclusion and diversity
OPG Security Clearance would be considered an asset
This position requires the successful candidate to be in the field observing work, requiring the ability to walk inexcess of 3 km per day, climb min 3 flights of stairs and occasionally climb ladders. This position also requires thesuccessful candidate to work within a nuclear environment
