The Welding Development, Project Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the (P.Eng) Engineers in the Aecon Centre of Excellence (COE) department. This department is responsible for these 3 basic areas:

1. Developing, Administering and maintaining the welding program at a corporate level
2. Supporting new and in process project activities
3. Performing R&D, proposal work and supporting the sales team

What You'll Do Here

• Oversee and coordinate projects and initiatives undertaken by the welding COE department.
• Provide support with development of detailed, resource-loaded schedules.
• Assist in developing, troubleshooting, designing, testing and training with various types of welding processes and pieces of equipment.
• Assist with Aecon Nuclear welding school activities and classes (theoretical and hands on)
• Tracking the day-to-day operations within the COE welding facility with respect to deliverable obligations.
• Manage operations in the welding COE metallurgical analysis department by developing SWPs, work instructions, performing training and coordinating testing activities.
• Support of contract proposal efforts and review of customer supplied technical data.
• Assist with the set-up of project accounting systems and monitoring of project execution (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit)
• Generate project status reports for internal management and for customers as required.
• Manage resource loading of COE welding equipment and personnel.
• Assist welding engineers to perform procedure, performance or other qualification efforts.
• Provide technical input as required by performing/conducting research
• Attending project specific sites to help remotely support welding remotely.
• Develop plans through the use of CI initiatives to improve project execution strategies.

What You Bring To The Team

• College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience, specifically mechanical, materials, mechatronics, welding & robotics and other such technical programs with an emphasis on welding.
• Minimum 1 year of industry welding, manufacturing or industrial experience.
• Practical hands on experience with manufacturing tools and welding is an asset.
• Familiar with welding principles. (Basics of arc welding, types of welding etc.)
• Familiar with robotics or comparable semi-automated and mechanized machinery is an asset.
• Previous design experience with tools, fixtures and simple rigging is an asset.
• Able to produce solid models and 2D manufacturing drawings in Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor or an equivalent CAD package.
• Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
• Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
• Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge
• Detail oriented and passionate
• Must possess valid G driver's license and have access to a vehicle
• Takes pride in work to strive for excellence and instill this mindset onto others.
• A passion for welding is an asset.
• Have a willingness to mentor and share knowledge.

• Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is an asset.
• Ability to maintain active schedule tracking and resource management initiatives.
• Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles an asset
• Applied knowledge of the "Earned Value" principles an asset
• Applied knowledge of cost engineering / cost control is an asset
• Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset
