Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data & AI Strategy and Planning, the Advisor, Data & Analytics (AI Initiatives) plays a pivotal role in architecting the Artificial Intelligence roadmap for Air Canada. This role works closely with the AI director & AI leadership team, Business stakeholders and Business IT Partnership teams to identify opportunities to create value for the company by leveraging data solutions. The Advisor, Data & Analytics (AI Initiatives), will integrate opportunities into the roadmap and work with teams in the Data Technology ecosystem, including outside partners, vendors, to ensure readiness to carry out the AI strategy.

Responsabilities:
  • Work closely with Business partnership teams to assess opportunities that can be addressed with AI solutions and integrated into an actionable roadmap
  • Collaborate with other teams and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Accountable for articulating the roadmap vision and presenting it at the Senior Management level
  • Evaluate feasibility and best technology fit for AI initiatives, including financial assessments and business case creation
  • Lead scoping and project preparation workshops with business and technical stakeholders
  • In collaboration with Finance & Business Stakeholders, establish methodology to measure and promote business benefits of AI solutions
  • Accountable for evaluating potential new vendors in the AI space and nurturing relationships with selected vendors
  • Support and promote strategic recommendations by using analysis and data
  • Establish control mechanisms to ensure projects deliver based on business requirements and validate benefits according to their business cases
  • Manage partnership opportunities with organizations outside of Air Canada and maintain relationships with external collaborators
  • Ensuring knowledge transfer to pears by coaching and mentoring in order to build the AI capability in the organization
  • Facilitate the creation and subsequent approval of Business Cases and Financial approval documentation for standalone AI projects including generation of project budgets and schedules
  • Manage the submission activities for funding requests for eligible AI projects
  • Oversee the preparation of reports for funding agencies and ensure accurate reporting
  • Be the liaison between the tax team, external consultants, and AI teams for yearly tax credits applications, for eligible AI projects
  • Oversees and reports on industry trends, best practices, and Air Canada's position against competitors; conducts ongoing environment scan to provide AI advice and help Air Canada stay ahead
  • Liaises with the partners and project teams in determining client requirements and translating requirements into project charter with clear scope, and milestones with a view to make delivery effective.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, in Business, Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Master or specialized degree an asset
  • 9-12 years of experience in Strategy, Finance and/or consulting in the large firm or management consultant company
  • Previous work experience in AI strategy, an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of what different AI solutions can offer and its business application, and the ability to leverage creative thinking to deliver results
  • Ability to foster teamwork, and to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to synthesize information and create reports, presentations and communications tailored to different audiences
  • Experience leading and facilitating workshops with different types of stakeholders
  • Ability to anticipate consequences of situations and be prepared for potential contingencies
  • Flexibility and resilience to work under tight deadlines and adjust to rapidly changing conditions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships with stakeholders at different levels in the organization
  • Ability to guide, influence and give functional direction to others
  • Bias to action in search of business objectives with focus on meeting customer expectations
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Previous work experience in the airline industry, an asset
  • Proficiency with MS Office
