Reporting to the Senior Director Seasonal & Network Planning - North America, the Director Schedule Planning will be responsible for the following activities:

Air Canada's fleet consists of some 350 aircraft, including the AC Express fleet. We, together with our regional partners, operate approximately 1500 scheduled flights daily and carry over 33 million passengers annually.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for optimizing profitability of Air Canada's network plan
  • Oversee the deployment optimization of the entire Air Canada fleet including Express and Rouge to maximize asset utilization, revenues and profits
  • Act as the commercial quarterback for the Integrated Planning process, developing schedule strategies with Operational groups to maximize profitability and on-time performance while controlling costs.
  • Provide leadership to a team of Managers to design the most competitive and profitable route network and flight schedule including destinations, routing, capacity, frequency, flight departure and arrival timings, and aircraft deployment
  • Responsible for overseeing hub connectivity strategy, including implementation and monitoring throughout selling window
  • Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders, including airport authorities & agencies in order to optimize schedule offering and ensure operability.
  • Create the annual budget schedule and manage capacity levels in accordance with macro-economic forecasts and market indicators to optimize load factors, control costs and exceed corporate financial targets
  • Collaborate with the Directors of North America and International Network Planning to ensure schedules are strategically aligned
  • Provide direction on network changes as part of commercial analysis for long term fleet plans and schedules
  • Provide guidance to aircraft programs in terms of Network requirements
  • Lead the development and enhancement of network planning and scheduling tools
  • Provide direction on improving existing BI framework and driving adoption within the team
  • Identify and lead new process improvement initiatives within Schedule Planning team, including Chronos AI integration, driving efficiency and questioning status quo
Qualifications
  • University degree in Commerce, Operations Research, Aviation Management, Economics or Statistics preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the Airline industry with minimum 5 years of scheduling experience
  • Exceptional knowledge of Air Canada's route network
  • Solid knowledge of commercial principals of Airlines planning
  • Collaborative Leadership with effective people management, coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal and ability to synthesize complex issues to executive level
  • Excellent decision-making abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence decisions.
