The Environmental Programs & Support Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of issue-specific environmental communication and engagement programs within the Corporation and its subsidiaries system wide to meet formally stated environmental goals of the Corporation. This position supports the Manager Environmental Sustainability Enablement.

Responsabilities:
  • Responsible for the delivery and administration of sustainability- related initiatives to encourage participation and raise awareness among employees and the local community, including but not limited to waste lunch & learns, beehive workshops, community tree planting, and other employee engagement activities and community events in which Air Canada participates.
  • Responsible for the delivery and administration of the Green Teams initiative at Air Canada. Provides day-to-day support and technical expertise to employees in developing their own Green Teams within the framework and rules provided.
  • Responsible for the administration and management of the various engagement platforms (Leave Less, Aeronet, VivaEngage environmental group, Enviro inbox, etc.).
  • Ensures the environmental engagement library on the team Share Point site is organized and kept up to date.
  • Develops communications and awareness materials geared toward a variety of stakeholders, including internal branches and engages employees around environmental protection and compliance to help build a culture of environmental stewardship and to drive performance within Air Canada.
  • Supports in the maintenance of policy and program documentation and ensures that it follows the requirements of the EMS.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and development of KPI and metrics for outcomes of partnerships and engagement activities.
  • Assists in the implementation of other environmental programs as assigned.
  • Manages outside consultants as applicable to environmental programs assigned.
  • Coordination of engagement tasks related to programs carried out by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Triage of internal department support requests.
  • Support the Manager Environmental Sustainability Enablement in the collection of data and development of environmental KPIs linked to engagement in environmental initiatives.
  • Conduct supplier market research for various sustainability projects.
  • Coordinate booking, delivery and pickup of assets related to engagement events.
  • Support the administration of customer offerings programs.
The above list is not exhaustive, and the tasks assigned may alter depending on the department's objectives.

Qualifications
  • University degree in Environmental Sciences or equivalent
  • 1-3 years minimum experience in the field of environment and environment-related activities
  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to foster strong relationships with and manage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage projects, demonstrate initiative and able to work independently.
  • Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Commitment to quality and pride in work, patience and perseverance
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Programs (Access, Excel, Word) and Share Point. Knowledge of Power BI is an asset.
  • Must be available and able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Must be available outside designated office hours for special event occasions and for business travel (if required).
  • Experience in project and/or event management is required.
  • Experience with communication tools is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of website design and analytics is a strong asset.
