Air Canada is seeking experienced and dynamic Senior Product Owner to join the Corporate Digital Solution team who takes care of Human Resource applications, including multiple employee facing products, using various technologies. Its portfolio covers the learning management system, the employee portal, the employee travel site, the employee mobile app and other employees facing applications and tools.
As a Senior Product owner, you will act as a bridge between the stakeholders and the digital teams, ensuring that the HR products meet the needs and expectations of the end-users as well as Air Canada’s strategic objectives. You will be working in an agile environment, with frequent feedback and iterations, and using the latest tools and technologies to create and enhance products that are scalable, reliable, and user-friendly.
This role requires collaboration with a diverse internal workforce and extended third party service providers to create the future business application support model for our world class airline brand. The Senior Product Owner must be user journey centric and an in-depth knowledge for creating innovative and high-performance digital experiences.
This position will be reporting to the “Product Manager, Digital Solution - Corporate” responsible for multiple, employee facing, Human Resource products.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a main point of contact for in-house developed and purchased solutions ensuring that features and functions meets the business highest expectations.
- Ensure backlog is aligned with stakeholder needs and product manager vision to maximize the value delivered by the team.
- Work closely with relevant stakeholders to collect and use information for improved operational performance in the Air Canada HR Corporate Space.
- Review and analyze data from multiple internal and external stakeholders. Communicate the results and make recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Lead and support Agile methodology in a SAFe Agile environment.
- Write, present, and groom user stories.
- Coordinate with the development team to get the stories developed.
- Day-to-day support in requirements clarifications and business rules (SPOC for the development team for requirements/priorities).
- Facilitate/Coordinate or execute UAT testing.
- Take a lead role in the different SCRUM ceremonies.
- Conduct requirement and systems analysis and translate into business requirements.
- Provide management with economic impact and compliance issues surrounding key business decisions.
- Support definition and maintenance of methods, techniques and calculations for identifying ways to improve business/technical processes.
- Work closely with vendor partners in the HR space.
- Support Project Management through planning, monitoring & delivery phases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve development constraints and deployment issues.
- Maintain and update documentation and procedures.
Qualifications
- A relevant University degree/technical certification, and/or relevant experience commensurate to the role.
- 3 - 5 years of Business Analyst or Product Owner experience in a large company working in HR systems environment.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of at least one type of Agile process.
- Experience with HRIS processes and applications is an asset.
- Experience with SDLC tools like JIRA, Confluence, HP ALM, and MSFT TFS.
- Self-motivated and independent worker.
- Possess investigative nature and be self-motivated.
- Results oriented with proactive and methodical approach to problem solving.
- Able to multi-task and work under pressure against tight deadlines and changing priorities.
- Must be a team player with ability to work closely with diverse groups and working styles.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships.
- Ability to following processes and directives.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Deep understanding of digital design guidelines across multiple touch points.
- Experience with understanding analytics reports from tools like Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics or PowerBI.
- Knowledge and hands on experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft fluid an asset.
- UX and design experience are great assets.
- Knowledge of core programming languages (JAVA, JavaScript, html, XML) is also an asset.
- Prior experience with Quality Assurance a plus, but not required.
- Airline or Travel Industry experience a plus, but not required.
