Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker

The Addiction and Mental Health (AMH) Recovery Worker operates as a member of a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and reports to the Manager of Addictions & Mental Health Brooks. This role involves providing crucial services to individuals facing chronic and persistent addiction and mental health challenges. Responsibilities include assisting clients in obtaining necessities such as housing, food, and clothing, helping with applications for programs like AISH and Alberta Works, delivering medications, and providing transportation and accompaniment to medical and other necessary appointments, facilitating social support groups. This position also supports clients in following through with treatment plans developed by clinicians. This position is serving the city of Brooks and surrounding area. Additionally, the person in this position conducts risk assessments and ensures that safety protocols are implemented and followed in all situations. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As an Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of community based services to persons with a chronic addiction and/or severe and persistent mental illness using psychosocial rehabilitation principles, promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. Your duties will include carrying out assigned tasks in a client focused recovery plan which includes support to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will work collaboratively with other health and service providers. In this position, you will work under the direction of a regulated health provider.

Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a related field or equivalent.

Two years of experience working with individuals facing addiction, mental health issues, and/or concurrent disorders. Knowledge of community resources. Experience in crisis management and interventions.
