The Lethbridge Youth Treatment Centre is recruiting an Addictions Counsellor III to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be working youth and families in an in-patient treatment environment. As an Addictions Counsellor III you will work to improve individuals mental, physical, and spiritual health, enhance natural and community supports, and improve overall well-being by supporting youth to reach their individualized recovery-based goals. The successful applicant will provide individual counselling, group counselling, psychoeducation, skill building, client support, role modeling, client care, and general supervision. The job also entails delivery of services through different modalities, such as outdoor and experiential-based programming. Interest, experience, and certification that enables the delivery of this kind of program in an asset and participation is a job requirement. Inpatient treatment also requires shift work. Successful candidates will be required to do day, evening and weekend work as well as carry out tasks the support the operation and maintenance of the treatment environment. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.

First Aid. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.

Any outdoor, watersport or climbing certification. One year experience providing care to Youth in a bed-based care setting. One year experience providing care to individuals with addictions. Class IV.
