Reporting to the Supervisor of Registration, Switchboard, and Patient Information (RSPI) and Health Information Records Management (HIRM), the Administrative Support III position holds the responsibility of conducting patient interviews, whether in person or by telephone, with patients or their family members. This process aims to positively identify patients and gather their demographic and financial information. Aligned with the Provincial Registration Standards and Practices (PRSP), this front-facing role plays a critical part in verifying, validating, and accurately entering patient information into Connect Care. The position consistently applies Positive Patient Identification during registration, ensuring precise record linkage, supporting the safe delivery of patient care, and mitigating identity theft. Effective communication is paramount in providing exceptional customer service to patients, staff, and the general public. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performing Vital Stats tasks and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Collecting hospital fees for uninsured and out-of-country services. Conducting point-of-sale (POS) collections and managing cash transactions. Answering telephones and assisting with wayfinding. Training and mentoring new employees and students as required. Demonstrating the ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions in a fast-paced/high-stress environment.

As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk, and/or post-secondary education applicable to the position. This position will require you to sit/stand for prolonged periods with frequent movement including walking, extending, twisting, and turning. This position requires you to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Proficiency in Medical Terminology, typing speed of 40 wpm, phone etiquette, and written and verbal English communication (tests administered).

One year experience within the last two years in an Admitting/Registration Department or in a health care medical office setting. Proficiency in Connect Care, Netcare, Person Directory, EMPI, and MS Office (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams). Experience in patient/client scheduling.
