Description
Under general supervision of the Bone and Joint Unit Manager the Administrative Support III (AS III) position will provide a wide range of clerical support. Primarily the successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and processing referrals made to the Bone and Joint Clinics. This will include confirming completeness of the referrals, communication with the referring agents as required, sorting of the referrals to the appropriate surgeons, entering data into our Electronic Medical Records (EPIC) and creating and managing surgeons' waitlists. The AS III will serve as a liaison between Bone and Joint Clinic surgeon's and referring agents. The reception and phone desk duties will include but are not limited to: booking patient appointments, triaging clinic phone calls, data entry, registering patients in EPIC and verifying and validating patient information upon patient arrival. Additional task to support this very busy clinic as required from the leadership team.
As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Medical Terminology. Personal computer knowledge with proficiency using (Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Outlook). Minimum 2 years administrative experience in a hospital setting / medical setting. Minimum 1 year experience using EPIC in an Ambulatory Clinic Setting. Minimum 1 year experience Ambulatory Referral Management. Minimum 1 year experience with managing Referral Work Que’s (1 to 5). Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and competence in time-management. Demonstrated knowledge of the CPSA Guidelines. Ability to adhere to AHC Code of Conduct & Patient Confidential Policy. Ability to work independently and prioritize own workload. Ability to multi-task in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Working knowledge of EPIC, Registration Basics, Netcare. Unit Clerk or Office Administration Course. Previous experience working in an Orthopedic area. Working knowledge of business telephones (check message, transfer calls. Have working knowledge of FAST, AB Referral Directory, and Inform Alberta.
