Description
Reporting to the Supervisor of Health Information Records Management (HIRM), at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, this Administrative Support III position is responsible for ensuring immediate access to patient information to facilitate healthcare treatment decisions. Following the provincial policies and workflows, this position is instrumental in verifying, validating, and accurately scanning patient legacy information into Connect Care. This role places a strong emphasis on confirming document type and scan level for point-of-touch loose reports, perform the intake process of charts received from off-site storage, retrieval of charts from chart pull list and/or off-site, assignment to provincial work queues for Auditing & Remediation and Deficiency Management. This role is also responsible for release of information to internal and external stakeholders. Effective communication skills and attention to detail are crucial to ensure accurate information is converted into the electronic format for end users. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: Interact with internal and external stakeholders Answer telephone and handle in-person inquiries Train and mentor new employees and students as required Manage multiple tasks with interruptions Maintain the integrity of patient records (prep, scan, auditing & remediation and deficiency management) Other duties as assigned in Records Management
As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk and/or post-secondary education applicable to the position. Proficiency in Connect Care, Quanum, MS Office (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams). This position requires you to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. This position will require you to walk, sit, stand, twist, turn, bend, extend and use a step stool. Medical Terminology, typing speed of 40 wpm (Tests administered). Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English; verbal and written.
One year experience within the last two years in a health care medical office setting. Customer service experience. Knowledge of the Release of Information Process. Preference may be considered for students who have successfully completed their practicum within HIRM or RSPI at an AHS facility.
