Medical Affairs manages the areas of healthcare administration that are specific to physicians and other AHS practitioners. The Calgary Zone Medical Affairs team has over 3600 Medical staff to support the healthcare of 1.3 million Albertans. As the Administrative Support IV, you will provide specialized clinical administrative support to organize and coordinate the administrative duties of various physicians within the department. The role requires strong administrative support skills, careful judgement and active knowledge of priorities and current issues to be successful. Superior communication and problem solving skills are necessary to manage and resolve complex and confidential situations where impact of error could be high. Please note that this position provides coverage at all 4 adult acute care hospitals in Calgary. Travel to various sites is required.

As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Some post-secondary education.

Post-secondary Medical Office Assistant or graduate of a recognized business / secretarial administrative program with medical terminology. Minimum three years of administrative experience in a multidisciplinary health care administrative area. Intermediate/Advanced computer skills with demonstrated recent use and/or training in Microsoft Office and Outlook. Proficient typing skills with 60 WPM+ (test may be administered). Excellent communication skills - written and oral. Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.

5 years’ experience in a subspecialty, acute care setting providing administrative support to a physician. Demonstrated ambulatory experience Connect Care. Must be a strong team player with a positive attitude. Awareness of organizational policies and procedures. Creativity, innovation, enthusiasm and respect.
