Description
The Volunteer Resources Coordinator provides professional expertise in volunteer management and ensures consistent delivery of AHS and department-based policies and procedures. Under limited guidance from the Manager, the Volunteer Resources Coordinator is responsible for site specific leadership, planning, development and evaluation of the volunteer program. The Volunteer Resources Coordinator may supervise Program Assistants, Administrative Assistants and internship students. The Volunteer Resources Coordinator is responsible for the volunteers under their site portfolio; this includes ensuring the volunteers are compliant with AHS guideline standards in health screening, criminal record checks, orientation, ongoing education and incident reporting. Volunteer Resources Coordinators have a high level of problem solving and decision making autonomy, and work closely with affiliate AHS department and external partner stakeholders to ultimately support the vision, mission and values of Alberta Health Services, and maintains a current, personal knowledge of emerging trends and new methodologies in volunteer and human resource management order to react effectively to changes in both the internal and external environments. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Some post-secondary education.
Volunteer Management. Determines viable applicants, interviews, determines volunteer placement location. Determines volunteer applicant status. Determines onboarding documents that are required. Ensures volunteer requests are filled within an acceptable time frame.
A minimum Post-secondary Degree in Volunteer Resources or Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or Management in Human and Social Services, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training may be considered. Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada membership is required. Supervisory experience is required.
