Description
This position is responsible for competent performance of, and strong commitment to, a range of clinical and clerical activities that contribute to patient care and education in the Academic Family Medicine Clinic. Works in coordination with, and provides administrative support, to the Manager of the Academic Family Medicine Clinic. The clerical expectations for the Administrative Support IV role entail scanning medical documents, electronically attaching and filing them to the patient electronic health record (EHR). Works in coordination with the receptionist on patient appointment scheduling, booking procedures and tests. Coordinates patient referrals and appointments with specialists communicating with various providers and services in the community. Responsible for scheduling team meetings and taking minutes when indicated. Maintains clinic database and prepares statistics as required. The clinical expectations for this role include obtaining and recording vital signs; performing patient diagnostic testing; preparing patients, equipment and supplies for physician/patient visits; assisting with patient movement and flow within the clinic; recording in the patient EHR; and generally contributing to efficient processes that optimize the patient and family clinic visit experience. Additionally, the role expectation may include other clinical duties that can be safely performed after appropriate learning and competency has been achieved and demonstrated. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Some post-secondary education.
Medical Office Assistant diploma/certificate. 2 to 3 years of experience working in a primary care clinic. Experience working in an Electronic Health Record (EHR). Current BLS.
Experience working in Med Access. Knowledge of the Patient Medical Home.
