Reporting to the Supervisor of Health Information Management (HIM) the Team Lead is responsible for providing in scope leadership to the Administrative Support staff ensuring workload turnaround times are met in Registration, Switchboard and Patient Information and Health Information/Records Management (HI/RM). This position is responsible for ensuring data integrity guidelines and procedures are followed and responding to queries related to any department functions. The Team Lead provides support to the Supervisor and acts as a single point of contact when the Supervisor is not on site or absent and is responsible for making informed independent decisions. This position is expected to directly mentor staff to inspire creativity and teamwork with a strong customer service focus. Under the direction of the Supervisor, responsibilities include recruitment support, orientation/training of staff, payroll and assisting with operations in a rural environment. This position also plays a key leadership role in the transformation and execution of technology enabled business processes or e-HIM®, transitioning from site and zone-based practices to standardized provincial workflows within Connect Care and other 3rd party systems across AHS. This position shall maintain confidentiality of all Alberta Health Services (AHS) patient information in accordance with HIA, FOIP and other privacy legislation in effect, and shall comply at all times with the AHS Information Privacy and Information Security policies. This position is a multi-site position involving travel to the specified within the position in North Zone. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As an Administrative Support V, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).

Medical Terminology, Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk Specialty Certificate and/or post-secondary education applicable to the position. Typing speed of 45 wpm. Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Typing and skills tests will be performed.

3 years’ experience in HIM with at least 2 years’ experience in Admitting/Registration. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Attention to detail is critical. An excellent attendance record, reliability, and personal suitability must be demonstrated through employment references. One year experience in staff scheduling and payroll entry in ePeople. One year experience using MS Office One year experience in training and leading teams.
