This Primary Care Alberta (PCA) position within the Dept of Family Medicine (DFM) Postgraduate Program and is based in Medicine Hat congruent with the location of our Site Directors and Rural Program Residents and is responsible for all coordination of Residency training for Family Medicine Residents in the Medicine Hat & Lethbridge Divisions & includes AB International Medical Graduates (AIMG). This role is in management with the U of Calgary. This role resolves Resident issues, contributes to the development of policies & procedures, advises the Medicine Hat & Lethbridge Division Co-Directors & Rural AIMG Director, and manages the day-to-day operations of the programs including Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMs) process. This role will apply in-depth knowledge & expertise regarding the Rural Residency Programs, UC Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME), College of Family Physician of Canada and Professional Association of Residents of AB to the management of all Rural Residents. This position is complex, guided by multiple intricate guidelines of the AIMG program, Family Medicine Residency Programs, AHS Medical Education Office, Rural Health Professions Action Plan, Local Medical Affairs (Medicine Hat or Lethbridge), and Distributed Learning & Rural Initiatives. This role must balance significant competing demands, frequently shifting priorities, and work to extremely important deadlines. Excellent judgement & superior resourcefulness in performance of daily activities and in the escalation of issues as appropriate is expected. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. As an Administrative Support VI, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. diploma in business or office administration, specialized external certification).

Advanced MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and MS Outlook. Exceptional oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships with various stakeholders. Demonstrated expertise in data management, reporting, and statistical analysis. Proven accuracy and attention to detail, creativity, and resourcefulness. This position deals with extremely confidential information related to individual Residents and practicing Preceptors on a routine basis.

Experience in Medical Residency Program administration or related experience in a highly responsible administrator role, preferably in an academic or clinical environment. Demonstrated competence in time management, strong planning and organizational skills, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision and an aptitude for problem solving.
