Biomedical Equipment Technologist I

As a team member of the Department of Clinical Engineering the casual Biomedical Equipment Technologist I is responsible for the management of healthcare technology within our facilities including technical support of medical equipment and clinical systems. The Technologist I works under the direction of a Clinical Engineering manager or more senior technologists, this includes working independently or as part of the clinical team. Is responsible for performing assurance testing and support of medical devices, ensuring compliance to CSA, manufactures and accreditation specifications and standards. Responsibilities also include scheduling and managing of assigned workload.

As a Biomedical Equipment Technologist I, you will perform service and support for medical equipment to ensure safety and reliability.

Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).

On-the-job training is required in addition to education. Exhibit a working knowledge of medical terminology and physiology along with networking and PC based equipment. Demonstrate technical skills and mechanical aptitude. Demonstrate good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; proven organizational skills. Must be reliable, alert, accurate, capable of working independently and possess good judgment and initiative. Travel within zone will be required to provide additional support to other facilities as required. Ability to travel is required, both internally in Alberta as well as out-of-province or country travel required for training purposes. Must possess a valid passport and/or relevant documentation allowing entry into the USA as well as the ability to travel within Alberta and Canada.

Relevant experience in the biomedical field is an asset.
