Description
As a member of the EMS Clinical Engineering (CE) team, the Biomedical Equipment Technologist II (BMET II) reports to the Manager, EMS Equipment, Consumables & Uniforms. The BMET II is responsible for the technical support of highly complex medical equipment and clinical systems. The technologist requires a comprehensive knowledge of clinical practices, procedures, and equipment types, and must be well versed in details of anatomy and physiology. Working independently or as part of the clinical team, the incumbent is responsible for performance assurance testing, ensuring CSA compliance and that manufacturers and accreditation specifications and standards are met.
As a Biomedical Equipment Technologist (BMET) II, you will provide assurance testing, maintenance and repair of complex medical, biomedical and electronic devices or systems.
Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).
Minimum of intermediate technical/professional experience (i.e., 3-5 years). Must have at least 2 years of experience in a hospital, EMS, or related setting. Several courses in equipment service and exhibit a working knowledge of medical terminology and physiology. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office and database management. Proficient written and verbal communication skills, attention for detail. Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills required with ability to prioritize competing demands. Proven ability to problem solve independently. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with tight timelines. Ability to work effectively under pressure and ability to manage frequent interruptions. Strong work ethic with demonstrated initiative and the ability to perform work duties under minimal supervision. Consistently exercises sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy. Demonstrate positive attitude and change management skills.
