Under the direction of the Manager of the Northern Addictions Centre, and the Assistant Head Nurse, the successful candidate provides basic and supportive care to clients who access Northern Addictions Centre services. The successful candidate functions primarily in the Detox Unit and assists with Detox client assessment, care planning and care delivery. The successful candidate will also provide 24/7 general support to clients who are attending the Residential Treatment Programs. Other aspects of the position include crisis intervention, housekeeping duties, facility security, and client transportation in the Northern Addictions Centre vehicle. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Completion of Grade 12. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Two (2) years Addiction and Mental Health experience. Will consider relevant history and experience. Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license will be required, as local travel will be involved.

Two (2) years related experience. Standard First Aid. AED and Level ‘C’ BCLS-HCP Certificate. Nursing assistant experience and strong computer skills will be an asset.
