Clinical Educator

Alberta Health Services (AHS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) requires a Clinical Educator. The primary objective of the EMS Clinical Educator is to provide training, monitor the transfer of learning into actual practice, support the competency assessment process of EMS practitioners, and provide learning and development support to EMS field practitioners on an ongoing basis. Additional Clinical Educator competencies include strategic coordination, administration of provincial programs that provide and facilitate the delivery of MCP education/training, and delivery of Patient Care Simulations. Travel within the zone and to other zones and work collaboratively with zone stakeholders. Travel requirements may vary between 1 to 4 days in length. The Clinical Educator may be required to work evenings and weekends.

As an EMS Clinical Educator, you will identify, develop, implement and deliver various training programs and initiatives, monitor the transfer of learning into actual practice, support the competency assessment process of EMS practitioners, and provide learning and development support to EMS personnel on an ongoing basis. Facilitation modalities include lecture, e-learning, simulation and real-time situation specific coaching and mentoring. Alberta Health Services EMS requires the proof of the successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via the certificate provided by the Lifemark organization for all applicants external to AHS or internal to AHS, who do not already hold a clinical position within AHS EMS (VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP and Community Paramedic). Your F.A.R.E. test must be completed six (6) prior to the date of your application. Alberta Health Services EMS may verify results with Lifemark to ensure the candidate has successfully completed the test. Completion of an accredited Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) Advanced Care Paramedic program. Active registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP). Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six (6) demerits. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test taken no more than six (6) months prior to the application date.

Minimum of five years of current Advanced care paramedic field experience and the ability to maintain clinical expertise through regular field rotations. Equivalent healthcare qualifications may be considered. Delivery of classroom and/or online learning specific to adult education.

Instructor certification in ACLS, ACLS-EP, PALS, ITLS, NRP, BLS (CPR), NVCI, and The Working Minds for First Responders. Post-secondary education or University degrees in a related field is an asset. Ability to demonstrate professional practice and leadership. Education or experience in AV/computer software (photography, video, Lectora, Captivate). Education or experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
