Description
Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services requires a full time permanent Clinical Educator to develop and deliver various training programs and initiatives to EMS personnel. This includes various modalities such as lecture, e-learning, simulation and real-time situation specific coaching and mentoring. Primary Functions of Temporary Clinical Educator Role: Assist with management of Learning Management System. Assist with simulation delivery. Participate in clinical review and support. Provision of clinical performance intervention, feedback and review. Assist with the monitoring of patient care and provide remedial training as necessary. Identify learning needs, develop curriculum, coordinate and/or deliver educational programs. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Research, recommend and implement new educational technologies. Participate in the development of educational policies and procedures. Assist with the EMS recruitment process. Work with agencies and educational institutions to provide effective learning opportunities. Clinical Education Projects as required. Assist with and develop AV media projects.
As an EMS Clinical Educator, you will identify, develop, implement and deliver various training programs and initiatives, monitor the transfer of learning into actual practice, support the competency assessment process of EMS practitioners, and provide learning and development support to EMS personnel on an ongoing basis. Facilitation modalities include lecture, e-learning, simulation and real-time situation specific coaching and mentoring. Alberta Health Services EMS requires the proof of the successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via the certificate provided by the Lifemark organization for all applicants external to AHS or internal to AHS, who do not already hold a clinical position within AHS EMS (VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP and Community Paramedic). Your F.A.R.E. test must be completed six (6) prior to the date of your application. Alberta Health Services EMS may verify results with Lifemark to ensure the candidate has successfully completed the test. Completion of an accredited Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) Advanced Care Paramedic program. Active registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP). Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six (6) demerits. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test taken no more than six (6) months prior to the application date.
ACP Registered Paramedic with at least 5 years of paramedic field experience and able to maintain clinical expertise through regular field rotations. Equivalent healthcare qualifications may be considered. Experience and/or education in the delivery of adult education. Ability to maintain clinical competence through on car participation monthly - able to complete full duties of a paramedic.
Experience/education in videography and editing. Instructor certification in ACLS, ACLS-EP, PALS, ITLS, NRP, BLS (CPR), NVCI, and The Working Minds for First Responders. Project Management certificate or higher. Ability to demonstrate professional practice and leadership. Education or experience in AV/computer software (photography, video, Lectora, Captivate). Education or experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
