Description
There is flexibility as to the location of this position within the Province of Alberta. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate may discuss location options with the hiring manager (office/home office/hybrid). The students will be required to attend meetings and workshops in person in the office. Various Information Technology Co-op Student positions are available. Please Note: This posting is for current students only; you must be currently enrolled in an applicable post-secondary program and continuing your studies in the next term for the duration of the placement. Students that have graduated or will graduate before the placement begins are not eligible to apply. All students must reside in Alberta during their employment with AHS, and do not subsidize relocation expenses.
The co-op student can expect to be an active member of their team and will receive training and mentoring from IT professionals. While the student positions will be challenging, this opportunity will also provide real world experience. They will quickly learn the value of being creative, flexible, and versatile in a geographically dispersed workforce. Positions focus on technology services, project delivery, and applications that support and enhance clinical processes. This position is a 4-month term with possibility of extension to 8 months. Example roles include but are not limited to: Junior Help Desk Customer Support; Junior Web Development; Junior Project Support; Junior Business Analyst Support; Health Information Management Support, and other IT support roles as required.
Current enrolment in a CO-OP/Work experience program in IT, Science, Engineering or Business-related field. Registered in a related field of study at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a professional team. Ability to communicate confidently and professionally. Ability to take initiative and be responsible. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills. Ability to multi-task. Self-directed, highly motivated, results driven. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Power Point, Share Point and more) and other computer applications. Knowledge of at least one programing language is preferable.
