The Coordinator for the Centralized Associate Physician (AP) Program in the Calgary Zone is responsible for managing the AP workforce across five departments, ensuring effective recruitment, utilization, and coverage for patient care at all acute care sites. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Coordinator oversees daily operations and supports the design and implementation of initiatives to enhance coverage and improve operational efficiency in alignment with Alberta Health Services (AHS) goals. Key responsibilities include ensuring adequate acute care coverage, assisting with program budget management, and maintaining cost control. The Coordinator coordinates recruitment, provides comprehensive reports on program activities, and implements policies to ensure fairness, consistency, and efficiency. The role also involves fostering a collaborative, mentoring environment and utilizing evaluative tools to track progress toward program and AHS objectives. Additionally, the Coordinator manages human and financial resources, monitors costs, and ensures that policies are followed, resources are allocated equitably, and initiatives support optimal patient care and operational success.

Bachelor’s degree from health sciences, social sciences or other related fields with formal training in program and project management, evaluation and data analysis.

Experience working with International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and a strong understanding of their diverse needs. Willingness to continuously learn and adapt. Preferred experience in designing coverage scheduling to support acute care operations. Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrated throughout professional experience.

At least 3 years of experience in healthcare-related environments, with a proven track record in scheduling, program design, and evaluation. Skilled in data collection and analysis. Professional experience working with International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and addressing their practice-related challenges. Expertise in conducting research and performing needs assessments. Master’s degree is an asset.
