Description
Come join our amazing Central Zone Rural Team as a Manager in Daysland. Reporting to the Director of Rural Acute Care Northeast, this Manager is a key leadership role responsible for providing guidance, mentorship and day to day supervision of nursing staff within the department and play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and health maintenance, while providing safe, quality patient and resident and family centered care. The Manager collaborates with site and medical staff, area leaders, regional programs, direct care providers and external organizations in order to coordinate and integrate care and services, and ensure that patients receive quality care in a safe, competent and ethical manner. Your role will also include responsibility for the recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment and responsibility for monitoring and maintaining budget. To be successful in this position, you must have strong communication, problem solving and decision-making skills. Daysland is a small friendly town in east Central Alberta with quiet streets lined with stately trees, and open space areas that include a golf course, beautiful parks and the scenic “Crocus Trail” walking path. Daysland is located in a productive agricultural area and is equipped with almost any kind of business you will need. Close to major centers such as Camrose, Red Deer and Edmonton, but with a safe, small town atmosphere, you will love the friendly people.
As the Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership to an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing leading care to Albertans. In this leadership position, you will be making key decisions in establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals for Acute Care (16 beds), Emergency Department, Endoscopy program, the Rehab unit (8 beds), the Restorative Care beds (2 beds), and finally, be the key contact for any site related concerns. This role is also responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Director. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective framework for the operations of patient care services in order to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and safe patient care. These activities may include providing day to day direction to the staff working on the unit, daily assignment of patients, rounds, staff scheduling, interdisciplinary rounds, identifying and attempting to resolve patient, family and staff concerns, and participating in the discharge planning process. In addition, you will be implementing and monitoring your portfolio’s budget while undertaking risk management, quality assurance and utilization activities. Your leadership, direction and organization of the units will be in support of the vision, mission and business plan.
Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Minimum of five years’ nursing experience in Acute Care & Emergency. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
As required.
Desired nursing experience in rural nursing, including emergency department and endoscopy programs. Minimum of 2 years management experience in an acute care setting.
