You’re a methodical, detail-oriented diagnostic sonographer with keen visual discernment and a reassuring bedside manner. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is currently seeking a person like this to join our dynamic team and the brand-new, state-of-the-art Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, opening fall 2024. In this dynamic, fast-paced department, you will provide safe, efficient, and family-centred care as you capture and produce high quality images. As part of the interdisciplinary Diagnostic Imaging Services team, you will support the ongoing patient experience from early detection to monitoring the efficacy of treatment. As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

As required.

At least 2 years current ultrasound experience preferred. Breast imaging experience an asset. Vascular certification preferred.
