Description
Responsible for providing quality service to the clients of Diagnostic Imaging Services in an effective, efficient and safe manner. As a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team, the incumbent is required to work all shifts and on-call, as assigned. The SHC has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars are guiding the development and delivery of service of to all patients and families at SHC.
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to assume responsibility, and to work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Demonstrates perception, initiative, judgement and concern for detail and accuracy. Demonstrates ability tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and physicians.
