The FM&E Site Director for the RAH/GRH/Norwood campus is a key leadership role within the Edmonton Zone’s Facilities Maintenance & Engineering Leadership team. Reporting directly to the Edmonton Zone FM&E Director, this position is responsible and accountable for providing direction, leadership and organization for the department in support of the vision, mission and business plan of AHS. The role includes the use and integration of various resources available to the incumbent to carry out these activities. The position is also accountable for making key decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals of the department. The Director will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to the site and organization to support and provide leadership to the Site FM&E department and as well contribute to the Zone. Communication and Team based leadership skills are a critical requirement of the incumbent to be successful in the role.

The Director is responsible for: Effectively leading a team of Managers, technical, trades and other frontline staff for the maintenance and operation of all mechanical, electrical, building equipment and systems and grounds based on a 24 hour, 7 days a week, operation. The following facilities and subsequent grounds fall within the campus, Royal Alex Hospital, Glenrose Rehab Hospital and Gene Zwozdesky Centre. Safe and efficient maintenance and upkeep of the existing infrastructure. Steward of fiscal and budget obligations. Development and enhancement of Client, Staff and stakeholder relationships. Departmental leadership, mentorship and coaching.

One or more of the following is required: Professional Engineer preferably in either mechanical or electrical discipline or, Building trade Journeyman certification or, Certified Facility Manager (CFM designation). In conjunction with the above qualifications the incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years in a management/leadership capacity in hospitals, institutions or industrial sites of significant size, complexity and diversity. A combination of related leadership/management experience (minimum 10years) and other applicable certifications/training may be considered as an alternative to the above required qualifications, contingent on review and acceptance.

Communication and team based leadership skills are a critical requirement of the incumbent being successful in the role. Incumbents with previous communication and leadership training will be given stronger consideration.
