Alberta Health Services is currently looking for a driven Dosimetrist (DS) to join our patient focused, radiation therapy team. Reporting to the Radiation Therapy Associate Manager, this important role will provide crucial expertise and interdisciplinary collaboration toward the delivery of specialized treatment planning for our valued patients. The DS will join an amazing team that fosters unique opportunities to work closely with our dedicated Radiation Therapists, Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists. Position responsibilities will include conformal and inverse planning along with participation in the department's brachytherapy program with potential career growth into SRS planning. Excitingly, this opportunity will also encompass a once in a career opportunity to be part of bringing into operation the world class Arthur J.E. Child Cancer Centre in October 2024. The Arthur Child will be the second largest Cancer Facility in North America and will set the stage and conditions for provincial, national, and international excellence in Cancer Care delivery and research. Designed for the future, the light filled radiation therapy department features the latest in environmental planning and design. At 1.3 million square feet the Arthur Child will deliver precision radiation medicine and integrated patient care through innovative technologies that include 10 Varian LINACs, 2 Elekta Unity MR-LINACs, 2 CT SIMS and 2 dedicated MR-SIMS. The DS role is based in Calgary, recently named the world’s 3rd most livable city by the Economist Intelligence Unit and the top ranked Canadian city, Calgary is one of the world's cleanest cities and one of the best cities in Canada to raise a family. Calgary is less than an hour's drive from the majestic Rocky Mountains and boasts the most extensive urban pathway and bikeway network in North America.

As a Dosimetrist IIA, you will provide subject matter expertise of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance of Radiation Oncology treatment, machines/equipment and procedures commonly used in Radiation Therapy and Brachytherapy. Your experience and technical knowledge will be instrumental in developing the delivery plan for radiation treatments, selecting radiation energy and other treatment parameters for the approval of the Radiation Oncologist. You will generate radiation dose calculation and distribution in collaboration with the medical physicist and Radiation Oncologist. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring new staff, rotational staff, residents, and Radiation Therapy students.

Bachelor's degree of Science in Radiation Therapy or completion of Medical Radiation Therapy diploma and Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) certification, or equivalent. Six (6) months of experience in a radiation therapy department.

Completion of the Canadian Dosimetry Certificate or equivalent. Six (6) months of experience in treatment planning/Dosimetry.

Current working expertise in 3D conformal planning, simple VMAT planning, Complex (SBRT) VMAT planning and brachytherapy.
