Family Counsellor

As a Family Counsellor, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, assessment, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Nursing along with regulatory college registration and the ability to perform psychosocial interventions Minimum four years’ experience in outpatient caseload management serving as primary Mental Health Therapist providing adult mental health supports and interventions in a community setting. Minimum of three years’ experience treating chronic and persistent mental illness. Minimum of one year experience working with clients on Community Treatment Orders, including case management, providing collaborating care with psychiatrists and family physicians, and supporting/participating in CTO reviews, renewals and appeals.

Demonstrated knowledge of local agencies and resources considered an asset.
