Reporting to the Unit Managers at FMC Unit 23 & 26, and within the Child and Adolescent Addiction and Mental Health & Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP) portfolio, this casual Family Counsellor position serves adolescents aged 13-17 and their families who present with complex and co-occurring mental health disorders and associated developmental, cognitive, behavioral and emotional issues. The position supports their successful transition in adulthood and/or case management, and/or consultation, and/or community resourcing. The position demands both clinical and systems expertise. As a member of a team and within the context of family-centered care, the Family Counsellor completes assessments, provides evidence-based treatments, facilitates the integration of services to provide optimal client service, advocates on behalf of clients, and assists with securing appropriate community resources and navigating systems. Participation in program development and evaluation is required. Expectations may include supervision of students. The candidate must be knowledgeable about community resources and have strong assessment and therapy skills and the proven ability to provide evidence-based episodic treatment. Must have weekday availability. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Authorized to perform Psychosocial Intervention required. Current knowledge and experience using of a range of clinical modalities including individual, family & group intervention is required. Advanced knowledge of DSM V required. Knowledge of community resources required. Ability to facilitate referrals and connect families to appropriate resources required. Experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and related behavioural, cognitive and social issues required. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and system navigation and case management required. Strong assessment, formulation, diagnosis and treatment skills required. Effective case management skills required. Demonstrated commitment to Family and Client Centered Care required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills required.

Supervised training and at least 2 years' experience in Mental Health Assessment and Treatment with the Adolescent population. Brain Story Certified preferred. Proven ability to work independently and meet necessary deadlines.
