Alberta Health Services is looking for an enthusiastic, client-focused leader who has a passion for customer service and supervising a high-quality Food, Linen, and Environmental Services (FLES) department at East Lake. The FLES Supervisor reports to the Manager and is responsible for maintaining patient and staff/visitor food service, environmental services, and linen services operations at the site level. This position provides direction to front-line workers and ensures that patients and residents receive the meals required to promote good health as well as a clean environment including waste removal and the provision of clean linens. As a key member of the FLES team, you are responsible for leading and mentoring staff, promoting safe work environments, managing budgets, menu management and implementing organizational and departmental initiatives.

Responsibilities of a FLES Supervisor include performance management, recruitment, training, staff scheduling, payroll management and discipline of area employees. Responsible for monitoring operational performance targets including budget and inventory management service goals using a customer-focused approach. Also responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations as well as implementation and monitoring of quality improvement, risk management and safety standards. This position exercises considerable independence in performing duties and meeting management objectives. The Supervisor acts as a key contact for site administration and resident care for matters relating to FLES. This position routinely interacts with Dietitians, IPC, health care staff, patients, and their families.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of leadership experience in a health care setting involving hiring, scheduling, and directing work to assigned employees. Candidates are required to have either a diploma/degree in Dietetics, Nutrition and Food Service Management, Business Administration, or Dietary Technology. Education must be accompanied by demonstrated leadership ability, organizational and time management skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be proficient with software in a Windows 365 environment - Microsoft Office (TEAMS, OneDrive, Word, Excel, and Outlook). Ability to meet timelines and to independently prioritize work with attention to detail and accuracy. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment.

Experience with e-People (RMS) and e-Facilities.

Considerable leadership experience in a unionized health care environment is desirable with strong team-building skills and the ability to handle multiple demands concurrently. Experience with change management is preferred.
