Description
Tofield has an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Aide to join their nursing team! As a Health Care Aide, you will be an important member of a multidisciplinary health care team, demonstrating genuine interest and respect for the clients. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in Home Care. You will be a key part of the multidisciplinary care team proving personal care and support to clients in the community settings. Your primary duties will be delivering health care procedures and assisting clients with ADLs as determined in collaboration with the client, their family and members of the health care team as details in the established health care plan. Under special circumstances, you may be called upon to perform assigned Restricted Activities under supervision of a regulated health professional therefore you will be required to participate in and provide documentation of relevant in-service training and education on an ongoing basis. You will experience and enjoy the benefits of delivering health care services both on your own and within a team atmosphere. The Town of Tofield is situated 68 km east of Edmonton on highway 14 and is easily commutable from the city of Edmonton if big city living is what you are looking for.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) through the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License along with access to a reliable vehicle for business use. Driving in all weather conditions. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position: This position requires frequent physical demands including walking, bending, lifting, and standing and driving for long periods of time. Transferring patients of varying sizes and degrees of mobility. Transporting supplies and equipment. CCHSS standards and AHS qualifications is mandatory and documentation that such education requirements are being met must be submitted on a regular basis Basic computer skills with Windows operating system including Outlook and MS Teams. Please note: the successful candidate requires upmost flexibility as this is a shift work position and scheduling may require day and evening shift work.
Recent experience in the Home Care environment. Medication Assistance Certification and experience. Connect Care training/experience.
