Client care may include assisting clients with activities of daily living, treatments and treatment plans, and other nursing team related activities. As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.

Graduate from a recognized educational program. Must complete a pre-service manual during orientation and agree to enroll in an AHS recognized HCA certification program within 60 days of start date and complete within 18 months. Recent experience plus ability to communicate effectively with the client population being served. Able to perform duties that involve periods of physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting weights up to 25 kg. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Level C (as per unit requirements). Acute Care experience in the past 3 years Hospice palliative care experience an asset Please note: Please note All Acute Care, Continuing Care, Mental Health and Public Health RN applications require a cover letter and current resume outlining experience and abilities relevant to the position.
