Health Information Management Professional II

Under the direction of the Supervisor(s) Access and Disclosure, this position is responsible for the day to day coordination and efficient operation of Access and Disclosure, Provincial Services. Provides leadership in the development, implementation and reporting for access and disclosures and provides technical expertise and training. This individual is responsible for creating documentation processes or best practices guidelines related to Access & Disclosure. This individual is responsible for developing educational content and facilitation of education sessions. This individual will conducts quality assurance reviews to ensure standards are being met and maintained. This individual will provide expertise and consultation on provincial and federal legislation impacting Access & Disclosure.

As a Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) II, you will provide leadership in the development, implementation and reporting for health information services. You will be responsible for the coordination of daily operations as well as training new staff in your assigned area. You will deliver operational guidance and support to ensure that clinical information is timely, accurate and valid.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

CHIM professional with minimum of 5 years' experience working in HIM within a complex health care environment. Access and disclosure experience is preferred. Minimum 2 years experience in leadership role. Experience in preparing adult educational material. Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage change. Demonstrated ability to identify, mitigate and manage risk in compliance with provincial and federal legislation, AHS policy, and department procedures. Excellent working knowledge and experience using computer applications in a windows-based environment and MS office suite. English language skills in reading, writing and comprehension and effective oral and written communication required. A skill testing assessment will be administered.
