The Instructor-Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) influences both practice & professional competence & growth of learners in a variety of settings at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH). This role encompasses a broad scope of practice that supports education & continuous professional development activities across the site. Utilizing informal leadership skills, the CNE plays a crucial role in building a strong, positive culture that is aligned to our values. The CNE coordinates & facilitates the new employee orientation program & leads in the evaluation/revision of content to engage new employees in an intentional onboarding process that supports immersion into the GPRH culture. The CNE ensures that educational initiatives & processes support the standards for evidence based best practice, policies, & regulatory requirements. In collaboration with key stakeholders & leaders, the CNE promotes a culture of continuous learning & identifies the need for new educational initiatives & integrates knowledge of learning theory & curricula design in developing & delivering education that is learner centric. The CNE utilizes assessment tools & strategies to measure the effectiveness of educational programs, making data-driven improvements as needed. The CNE fosters learning & professional growth through innovative, learner-centric approaches & utilizes technology, simulation, gamification, & other modern modalities to create engaging & interactive learning experiences. The CNE fosters a supportive learning environment for staff & acts as a mentor & coach to support career progression. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

5+ years of acute care nursing experience. Knowledge of adult learning theory, evidence-based practice research, and curriculum design. Excellent written and oral communications including strong presentation/speaking skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, planning and problem-solving skills. Critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. This role participates in hospital, regional & provincial improvement activities & committees.

Previous experience as an educator, clinical instructor or preceptor. Experience in designing and delivering evidence based, innovative, learner-centric educational programs. Familiarity with simulation-based learning and other advanced educational technologies. Familiarity with learning management systems, Tableau, and audio-visual equipment.
