The Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) at Alberta Hospital Edmonton (AHE) applies the Addiction & Mental Health (AMH) Principles of Care to guide their work in putting the patient and family at the forefront of care. The CNE develops educational material based on best practice. They deliver orientation and annual education to clinical staff, and support in-patient and community/residential programs with guidance to ensure patient safety and adherence to Recovery Alberta/AHS policies. The CNE promotes the clinical competence of staff through resource support. The incumbent is a team player who regularly collaborates on projects and other educational and site endeavors. Rolling out organizational initiatives, supporting Recovery Alberta/AHS policy implementation at the local level and providing real-time practice solutions to staff regarding patient care is just part of this exciting and rewarding role! There is opportunity to provide expertise and guidance on working groups/committees to inform processes at the site level that enhance patient care. The CNE liaises with various levels of management, clinical teams, and other AMH and Recovery Alberta/AHS colleagues in the Edmonton Zone and province. As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing required. 3-5 years recent experience in clinical (non-patient) education required. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills as well as excellence in written and verbal communication required. Teaching with an adult education focus is required. Advanced Microsoft Office skills and proficiency with MS Outlook required. Excellent group facilitation skills required. Ability to prioritize and meet competing demands/requirements of the setting required. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Experience with in-service and program development preferred. Demonstrated creativity, flexibility and initiative desired. Experience in Addiction & Mental Health preferred. Experience with education delivery via Zoom.
