An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse looking to work to their full-scope of practice and whom has a passion for providing leadership, direction and guidance as well as patient- and family-centered care in Seniors Health, located in Area 8 (Cold Lake, Elk Point, St. Paul, and Bonnyville) in Northern Alberta. As Clinical Nurse Educator, you will be a key member in Seniors Health providing coaching, mentoring and educational support to new hires as well as continued support to existing staff. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Alberta Health Services policies and procedures. You will also play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to the patient’s care, health promotion and health maintenance, as well as act as a resource for nursing staff to draw upon. This position reports to the Clinical Support Services Manager in Fort McMurray and will support Area 8, including St. Paul, Cold Lake, Bonnyville, and Elk Point. This successful applicant must live within Area 8 or be willing to relocate. A designated homes site will be identified closest to the incumbent’s living location, but onsite support at each Area 8 site is expected, and travel to each site is required for the position.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum of 5 years of experience working in Seniors Health, including homecare, supportive living, and long-term care within the last 2 years within AHS. Demonstration of continuing education and leadership courses. Leadership and decision making/problem solving skills. Strong assessment skills. Proven written/oral communication skills. Current certification in all CCHSS required education.

Previous clinical education experience.
