Description
If you are looking for an opportunity to support the growth and development of expert Nursing practice in Rural Healthcare, this may be the opportunity for you! This is an exciting opportunity to support rural nursing staff to achieve and maintain education requirements to provide safe and effective patient care, develop practical patient care skills, enhance team communication and support the development of Rural Nursing expertise. The instructor - CNE role supports individual self-learning practices, didactic workshops & in-services, virtual education and team-based simulation practice. In collaboration with rural Site Managers, Assistant Head Nurses and Zone leadership, you will work to identify education needs, ensure the effective delivery of education and provide education program evaluation at rural sites across the South Zone. The CNE collaborates with the leadership team to develop quality improvement strategies and facilitates appropriate educational activities and process changes. The CNE collaborates with the health care team at the unit, department, site, zone, and provincial level. Education is provided through in-person, virtual learning and one to one mentorship.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum 5 years front line rural acute care nursing experience, including Emergency and Acute Care In-Patient nursing. Bachelor of Nursing Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. Demonstrated ability to function independently with excellent time management skills. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent preceptor support to new staff and students. Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate staff education.
MN or MSN preferred. Obstetrics, maternal health and newborn experience. Experience in the provision of education using simulation. Demonstrated self-learning and continuous professional development experience with leading or participating in quality improvement projects, implementation of new practices in the workplace. OR experience an asset. Education/certificate in adult education in the workplace. PROSCi competent/certification course an asset.
