AHS has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic data networking professional with an interest in making a difference in an evolving Information Technology department. As a Network Specialist with Alberta Health Services, you will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions by implementing critical technology framework that connect patients and health providers like never before. As a valued member of the Calgary Network Services Team, you will deliver quality service in a fast-paced and high-energy environment working both independently and as part of a larger team. You will provide second and third level support for network related equipment and software. Monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting and documenting critical network infrastructure, you will work in a complex multi-site, multi-vendor environment consisting primarily of Cisco network equipment. To be successful in this role you will need to be able to communicate with clients to understand their business requirements and will work closely with other teams, vendors, and service providers. Acting as a resource and mentor for developing colleagues, you will recommend work/process efficiencies. You will create and update customer support tickets. Identifying IT department improvements will also be key as you will lead initiatives to improve internal process effectiveness. As an Analyst II you will develop, maintain and participate in IT goals and related AHS technology standards. After hours work, as well as travel between sites, maybe be required to minimize disruption to employees from network operational updates or changes.

As an IT Analyst II, you will provide technical support related to information technology applications either directly to users of the systems or to service delivery functions. You will ensure reliable operations of information systems, resolve complex technical problems, find solutions to customer needs, and lead projects and program initiatives. You will be responsible for more advanced application, telecom or technology support duties. You will investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex problems that have typically been escalated several levels before assignment to this position, and will translate business requirements into technical requirements for a solution and recommend a potential approach to the vendor. You will analyse the solution provided to ensure that it fits both technical requirements and business needs. You will also spend time on project or initiative leadership and delivery.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent.

Cisco CCNA certification. Experience with TCP/IP, LAN switching, WAN technologies and IP routing protocols. Working knowledge of Cisco products (routers, switches and wireless). Experience with Cisco Prime, Solarwinds, ITIL and Infoblox. 1 year experience in network operations within the last 2 years.

Experience in healthcare. Valid Alberta Driver's Licence. Ability to work in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
