The Lab Scientist I position supports the Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) Clinic at the U of A Hospital (Zeidler Ledcor Centre). The successful candidate will be expected to primarily assist with processing donor stool to create treatments for patients in the FMT clinic. The field of FMT provides many research opportunities which are done in collaboration with the University of Alberta. The successful candidate will be an active participant in these studies and research and is expected to become a leading expert over time with manufacturing treatments as well as assisting with research opportunities. Experience with collaboration among different health care professionals is an asset. Candidates may be asked to demonstrate proficiency with selected microbiology lab techniques as part of the interview process.

As a Laboratory Scientist I, you will perform work involving laboratory processes including research and development, test method implementation and change, routine testing as well as clinical trials. In addition, you will collect background information including literature reviews, analyze data, and prepare research proposals and summary reports.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Laboratory Science.

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a lab or medical lab setting - at least one year of regular work in a Microbiology lab setting.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a lab or medical lab setting. Experience in research/publication would be a valuable asset.
